As special operations medics, we find ourselves away from technology and often have to rely on physical exam and patient presentation to identify potentially life threatening injuries. I ask, what is one of the most versatile tools we can have with us in most situations aside from a foot patrol?
I am amazed and humbled at the amount of responsibility we are entrusted with. We owe it to our patients and their families to understand medicine to our fullest potential and with that, we must utilize and fight for the resources that will enable us to bring them home. I believe that having ultrasound capabilities would be without a doubt one of the best accessories we could have in an austere environment.
I am thankful and honored to be a part of this initiative, and last but absolutely not least, I would like to thank my wife and kids for allowing me to pursue my dream job!
