This past #SOMSA19 (Special Operations Medical Association Scientific Assembly 2019) was particularly special and nostalgic to me… After years of background service, SOFsono has earned its own slot and prime time at the most important SpecOps medical conference worldwide. I was truly humbled by the outpouring of unanimously positive feedback and supportive reactions. That “Ma’am – you knocked it out of the park” really stuck with me. Yet one big shoutout in particular has actually brought tears to my eyes. Oh yes, ladies do cry 🙂 A huge compliment to “Kasia, a lady from Poland” coming from the SOF community. JJ and doc Rush on PJ Medcast took me a little bit by surprise! Continue Reading
SOFsono was born out of a heartfelt desire to contribute to the #SOFmed community, and that is why having heard this call, we could not let it go unanswered.
Even the smallest monetary donation will be greatly appreciated. Please follow the link to the secure and verified online collection. It won’t bring Marcin back (Polish #SOFmedic from #JWFORMOZA), but it will certainly help support this young #SOFmed family in need.
“Inspiring change” sounds like a good excuse, doesn’t it? Even though in special operations excuses are generally unacceptable, let alone welcome, I sheepishly hope, you won’t take ours as lame.
We haven’t been posting on this blog… Our vimeo channel got covered in dust and our social media venues ( i.e. Facebook and Twitter) have long disappeared of anyone’s radar… Yet, behind the scenes we’ve been working hard to empower the SOF Medics on the Old Continent. We’ve been sharing the advances of U.S. SOF medicine, and dedicating our time to inspire a paradigm shift in the special operations circles on the Eastern side of the Big Pond.
As you all know, SOFsono and Journal of Special Operations Medicine (a.k.a. JSOM) have recently partnered to start a series of SOF-focused ultrasound education tidbits. And now we thought to partner with you, the SOF Medics!
- You are a SOF Medic from a NATO member state or Down Under;
- You have ever wished you had an ultrasound machine, while taking care of a patient AND/OR;
- You have wondered if that kind of technology would be of use to any particular patient…
We have a great announcement! At #SOMSA16 SOFsono has partnered with the Journal of Special Operations Medicine (a.k.a JSOM) to start a series of SOF-focused and case-based ultrasound education tidbits. JSOM will provide you with a brief introduction to the case. A more detailed discussion with live clips, images, pearls and essential references will follow here at SOFsono.org. We want to show you how ultrasound can help you solve a number of operational and clinical dilemmas, especially in prolonged field care settings. Tidbits are defined as small and particularly interesting pieces of information, hence brevity is intentional! Continue Reading

An ULTRASOUND STATiON is obviously included, & there is a mini “flipped classroom” assignment that we would like you to complete prior to the course. Continue Reading
